Bushtucker Picnic by the River

As the sun begins to set over the Avon River, join us for one of the most loved and anticipated events of Ballardong First — the Bushtucker Picnic by the River.

Now in its third year, this relaxed, family-friendly evening brings community together through culture, food, music and connection in the beautiful riverside setting of Avon Park. Guests are invited to bring a picnic blanket or chairs, share a meal, and settle in for a special night of performances, storytelling and celebration under the open sky.

The evening features powerful cultural performances and dance from Coroboree for Life, the return of much-loved singer Natasha Eldridge with Kim Batty, and a special performance by Zero MC, joined by young people who have taken part in the Ballardong First youth workshops — a moving moment of pride, confidence and community strength.

Renowned Indigenous chef Zach Green – The Storyteller Chef will be on site creating beautiful bush food tastings, while Jeert Mia Aboriginal Corporation bring their popular bushtucker food van, alongside a small curated market featuring products from Aboriginal businesses.

We’re also honoured to welcome back Reconciliation WA, with CEO Jody Nunn returning to support this important gathering of reflection, respect and celebration.

Whether you come for the food, the performances, the river setting or the shared sense of community, the Bushtucker Picnic is an invitation to slow down, listen, learn and enjoy a truly special evening together.
