An Organ Recital by Dr Joseph Nolan

Dr Joseph Nolan

SPECIAL PRE-FESTIVAL EVENT PRESENTED BY THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY, YORK

Joseph Nolan, One of the great organists of our time” (ABC Radio National), returns to Holy Trinity Church, York, to present a concert of music by Buxtehude, Mendelssohn, Franck, Boellmann, Vaughan Williams, Dubois and Widor.   The Church’s pipe organ, the only surviving instrument, built by Albert Pease, in Australia, is a charming one with beautiful flute stops; the concert will display the colours of the organ.

Dr Joseph Nolan, British-Australian organist and choral conductor, has been hailed by Limelight Magazine ‘as indisputably one of the world’s finest organists’. Joseph has also been described by ABC Classic as ‘an extraordinary musician’, BBC Radio 3 Record Review for ‘his miraculous playing’ and by Gramophone for his ‘towering technique, vivid virtuosity and inspired interpretive insight’. Joseph’s discography for Gramophone Label of the Year, Signum Records, is a who’s who of the world’s greatest organs and buildings, including St Sulpice, Paris, La Madeleine, Paris, St Etienne Du Mont, Paris, St Sernin Toulouse, St Francois de Sales, Lyon, St Bavo Haarlem, St Ouen Rouen and Buckingham Palace.
